B. Kosuge Carneros Gamay Noir 2023
Byron Kosuge spent fifteen years making Pinot at Saintsbury before launching his own label in Carneros, and this Gamay is one of his most personal projects. When he went looking for California Gamay in 2013 and couldn't find any, he grafted Gamay onto Pinot vines at The Shop, a small Carneros site near Napa. The wine is fermented with whole clusters and aged in older oak, giving it that crunchy, peppery, kinda-Beaujolais character with a distinctly California sunniness. Pour it slightly chilled. It disappears fast.
