El Galpon is a small Carneros vineyard adjacent to the equipment shop of the vineyard management crew Byron Kosuge has worked with for decades. The name is Argentinian-Spanish for "the shed," and the wine reflects that informality—it's 100% Pinot Noir, aged with a portion in concrete rather than barrel. The result is darker-fruited and more textural than Byron's straight Carneros Pinot, with a peppery, almost spicy lift from the concrete. A genuinely original California red.
