Ceretto Langhe Arneis 2023
Ceretto helped put Arneis back on the map. When Bruno and Marcello Ceretto launched Blangé in 1985, the grape was nearly extinct - long used as a softening blend partner for Nebbiolo, and largely abandoned in the twentieth century. Today this is one of Piedmont's signature whites, and Blangé alone accounts for roughly 12% of all Arneis produced. The fruit comes from the Roero hills around Vezza d'Alba, Castellinaldo, Canale, and Alba. Expect pear and yellow apple, a touch of tropical pulp, white flowers, and a saline-citrus finish. A textbook introduction to a grape that almost disappeared.
