Jura Pinot Noir is one of the wine world's worst-kept secrets, and this is a fine example. Champ Divin is biodynamic (Demeter), and their 100% Pinot Noir comes from limestone-clay soils in the Côtes du Jura. Hand-harvested in early September, fully destemmed, fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel, then six months in neutral demi-muids - bottled with no fining or filtration. The wine is fresh and snappy, with crunchy black cherry, anise, violet, and a savory, gamey edge. Lighter and more nervy than most Burgundy Pinot at the same price, with serious personality.
