Chateau Berliquet Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2019
Berliquet sits on the limestone plateau of Saint-Émilion, neighboring some of the appellation's biggest names. Since 2017 the estate has been owned by the Wertheimer family of Chanel, with winemaking now in the hands of Nicolas Audebert, who also oversees Chanel's Canon and Rauzan-Ségla - the level of attention has climbed dramatically. The 2019 is 77% Merlot and 23% Cabernet Franc, picked from a warm, dry growing season, and shows the elegant, mineral, limestone-driven side of the appellation: cherries, sweet spice, violets, and a long mineral finish.
