One of Graves' great châteaux, with vines planted on the region's famous deep gravels. Carbonnieux Rouge is Cab Sauv-led, classically Pessac in profile — fine tannins, freshness, integrated oak, and what we'd call luxury without weight. Where the 2018 is dense and powerful, the 2019 is the more classical, balanced sibling of that vintage pair: ripe but lifted, with seamless tannins, fresher aromatics, and a long, elegant finish. The château itself recommends pairing the reds with fowl, swordfish, and tuna — they're more versatile than serious Bordeaux is supposed to be.
