A classical, approachable Pauillac that's hit a wonderful drinking window. The 2008 vintage is often overlooked—sandwiched between the hyped 2005 and 2009/2010—but it produced wines of finesse, freshness, and balance, and Lynch-Bages excelled. Jean-Charles Cazes called 2008 a late, great vintage for Cabernet Sauvignon, and at 17 years old this wine shows everything that makes the Cazes family estate beloved: cassis and graphite, polished tannins, and the savory cedar-and-tobacco lift that comes with bottle age. It's drinking beautifully now and will continue to do so for another decade-plus.
