Chateau Pavie Decesse Saint Emilion Grand Cru 2001
Pavie Decesse sits on the limestone plateau directly above its more famous sibling ChĂąteau Pavie, and shares the same ownershipâGĂ©rard and Chantal Perse, who acquired it in 1997. This is a tiny estate (just 23 acres) producing a Merlot-dominant Saint-Ămilion (90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc) of remarkable density and depth. The 2001 vintage is now well into mature territory at 24 years old, with the inky concentration of the Perse style softened by time into something layered and savory. Drink now through 2030.
