Chateau Poujeaux Moulis en Medoc 2018
One of Bordeaux's great insider wines. Poujeaux was passed over by the 1855 classification, yet routinely performs at the level of a Third or Fourth Growth. Moulis sits inland from the Médoc's famous gravel ridges, but Poujeaux is on one of the few inland sites with the deep, gravelly soils and slight elevation that make serious left-bank Cabernet possible. The result is supple but classically-styled wine, reliable even in tough vintages. The 2018 came from a warm, sun-drenched summer and pours dense, polished and built for the cellar.
