Brothers Sebastien and Benoit Danjou farm one of the standout addresses in Roussillon's Agly Valley (the estate is based in Espira-de-l'Agly), working biodynamically with old vines on dramatic limestone and schist terroirs. Les Myrs is their single-vineyard old-vine Carignan, made in their reductive, low-intervention style to preserve freshness and tension - a long way from the jammy, alcoholic Roussillon cliche. The 2023 is elegant and aromatic, with bright red fruit, smoke, flint, and a stony, mineral edge. The kind of southern French red that drinks like a serious mountain wine - finesse over force.
