A Highland single malt distilled inside a converted Victorian cotton mill built in 1785, where the original waterwheel system now powers a hydro-electric facility that makes Deanston the only fully energy-self-sufficient distillery in Scotland—they even sell surplus electricity back to the grid. Beyond the green credentials, this is an excellent unpeated Highland malt: un-chill filtered, natural color, bottled at 46.3% ABV. Among the first Scottish distilleries to achieve organic certification (2000). The whisky itself is malty, honeyed, and waxy—a house style that rewards attention.
