Domaine Chandon de Briailles Corton-Marechaudes 2012
Chandon de Briailles is one of the great traditionalist domaines of the Cote de Beaune, farmed biodynamically and worked by horse, with cellar work that leans heavily on whole-cluster fermentation and minimal intervention. This Corton-Marechaudes sits on the eastern slope of the Corton hill, just below Corton Bressandes, on iron-rich limestone soils that the domaine has farmed for decades. At thirteen years from vintage, the 2012 is now drinking beautifully - the structure has softened, the whole-cluster florals have integrated, and the wine has slipped into that gorgeous secondary phase of dried cherry, forest floor, and graphite. A Grand Cru drinking in its prime window.
