A Bordeaux outsider in every sense. Domaine de Galouchey is a tiny project led by Master Sommelier Marco Pelletier, farming less than a hectare in the Libournais on land that had never seen a vine until 2002. They have the right to label it Bordeaux but choose to declassify it to table wine, calling it Vin de Jardin, garden wine, a wink at the Saint-Emilion garage wine trend. Nine grape varieties are co-planted and farmed organically, hand-destemmed, co-fermented with wild yeasts, and aged in old oak with minimal sulfur. The result tastes like nothing else in Bordeaux: pure, vibrant, and refreshingly unorthodox.
