Georg Breuer Riesling Trocken Rudesheim Berg Roseneck 2019
Starting in 2013, the estate decided to hold the Roseneck wines back until they felt they were "ready." Since then they haven't been released in a particular order or with the same maturation regimen, but all are astoundingly delicious.
The vineyard is higher up on the hill, facing south but protected from wind, guaranteeing easy ripening. Even so, from the excellent, warm 2019 vintage, this is totally dry with only 11.5% alcohol. It's more floral and a little more elegant—probably with the extra time in barrel and bottle—the other top cuvées.
"The 2019 Riesling Rüdesheimer Berg Roseneck is the current release from this quartzite site. It spent one year in large barrel and 60 months in bottle before release. Smoky stone on the nose leads to a bone-dry palate. Despite its age, this needs more time as its future creaminess is developing. This will be gorgeous. (Bone-dry). 95pts" — Anne Krebiehl, MW, Vinous
