Georg Breuer Riesling Trocken Terra Montosa Patientia 2021
2021 was the coldest vintage in the Rheingau in over 30 years. The Breuer estate, always fans of extended maturation in bottle or cask, decided to hold back some of their excellent "baby Grand Cru" for three more years. This has given the wine even more complexity, sharpening the edges and creating an even more elegant mouthfeel.
Incredibly aromatic, with lingering baked bread aromas of long lees aging, fresh-cut apples, a touch of grassiness, hay, Japanese pear, lemon verbena, a touch of jalapeño spiciness, and just starting to show waxy, candied lemon and toasty tertiary flavors.
A blend of all their Grand Cru sites, it's a perfect snapshot of what to expect at the estate. Perfect with seafood, raw dishes, or alpine cheeses, this is a wine to drink now for its precision or age for complexity. One of Germany's smartest buys for serious dry Riesling lovers.
