100% Carricante from vineyards planted roughly 1,200 m above sea level in soils of decomposed lava and sand. It comes from a single, tiny plot of just 0.8 hectares, and though the vines are young (planted c. 2010), the fruit they yield is very concentrated, thanks in part to the high density of vines. This is a tense, nervous wine, with so much energy and savory minerality. Saline, lightly floral, and barely fruity (the fruit that does come through reminds me of preserved lemon, melon, and green almond), this is a wine that can be enjoyed now but will also greatly reward you in a few years' time.
