This older vintage of La Bruma—the more lifted and floral of Peay's two estate Syrahs—comes from one of California's coldest vineyards, perched on a hilltop just four miles from the Pacific in the far northwestern West Sonoma Coast. The 2012 spent over a decade developing tertiary complexity: black ink, slate, and violet aromas give way to soft tannins and savory notes of brown spice, bacon, and iron. At only 13.1% alcohol despite its richness and density—a portrait of cool-climate mountain fruit.
