Alain Chavy is one of the small but serious names in Puligny, working a tight 17-acre domaine alongside his brother Jean-Louis (the family vines were split in 2003). His style is restrained and structured, the kind of white Burgundy that rewards a little patience. Les Folatieres sits high on the hillside above Clavoillons, the largest of Puligny's premier crus and one of its most distinctive, with meager soils that give wines real mineral grip. The 2020 is full-bodied but poised, with green apple, peach, and wet limestone, a fine bead of acidity, and a long aromatic finish. Built to evolve for a decade.
